Landlords, Farmers, Taxpayers, Small Business Owners & Sheriff Deputies CALL TO ACTION

Dear Friend,

The most important election in Santa Barbara County in the last 40 years takes place in exactly four weeks.  I am talking about the race for 5th District County Supervisor.  Santa Maria City Councilwoman Maribel Aguilera is running against Ricardo Valencia.  You need to support Maribel regardless of where you live in Santa Barbara County.  We have 5 supervisors, and they all have an equal vote to determine the future direction of Santa Barbara County.

And here are the different directions the county will go depending on whether Maribel or Ricardo is elected.

With Maribel, law enforcement will be supported.  With Ricardo, he will lead the effort to significantly defund the County Sheriff's Department budget.  One of Valencia's biggest supporters is 'Indivisible Santa Maria,' which believes the police should be defunded.  And Valencia even tried to remove police officers from public school campuses.

With Maribel, our agricultural community will have a strong advocate.  With Ricardo, he will support Climate Action policies that will put our farmers out of business.  He has stated he believes the biggest contributors to the carbon footprint in SB County are the oil and agriculture industries.  Valencia is supported by Supervisors Capps, Hartman & Lee.  All three are currently pursuing policies that will put the oil industry out of business, all in the name of their Climate Action Plan.  The agricultural industry will be next if Valencia is elected.  And, I can promise you one of the first things he will do as a County Supervisor will be to bring back the effort to impose a minimum wage for agricultural workers.  This time it won't b $26 an hour.  It will be in excess of $30 an hour.

And if you're a landlord, Valencia wants to impose what will be one of the most progressive rent control ordinances in the state for SB County.

And for everyday businesses that have to pay annual fees to Santa Barbara County to do business, you can expect your fees in Environmental Health, Planning & Development, etc., to substantially increase with Valencia, making the cost to do business in SB County that much more expensive.

The bottom line is, if you care about property rights, public safety, the taxpayer, or our businesses, you need to contribute today whatever you can afford.  Whether it is $1 or the maximum contribution of $5900, contribute whatever you can today.  Contribute regardless of where you live in SB County.  If you're on my email list, there is no excuse for you to not contribute.

Here is the link to support Maribel directly. https://www.maribelforsupervisor.org/

And I want to urge you to strongly consider contributing to a separate Independent Expenditure Committee (IEC) Political Action Committee (PAC) called the North County Jobs & Opportunity PAC.  This IEC will spend a great deal of its contributions to make sure the voters know exactly where Valencia stands on wanting to defund the Sheriff's budget, to impose an ag worker minimum wage of over $30 an hour, to completely shut down the oil industry, to implement a county-wide progressive rent control ordinance, to increase ALL the fees businesses and the taxpayer have to pay when dealing with SB County; the list goes on and on.

To make sure this message gets out, contribute to the North County Jobs & Opportunity PAC today.  Here is their link: https://www.efundraisingconnections.com/c/NorthCountyJobsandOpportunityPAC/

This is your call to action.  I know you can afford at least $10, and I know many of you getting this email can afford the maximum contribution of $5900.  Whatever you can afford or wherever you live, there is no excuse for you not to contribute.  So contribute to one or BOTH of the links above.  I guarantee the cost of Valencia being a 5th County Supervisor will be much more expensive than the amount of your contribution.

Feel free to call me if you have any questions.

Together we can make a difference for SB County.  Together we can make sure Maribel Aguilera is elected in exactly four weeks.

Sincerely,

Mike Stoker
