SBCTAC Quarterly Dinner
Thank you to everyone who attended SBCTAC’s quarterly dinner for Part II of our series, “The Economic, Environmental & National Security Reasons for Producing California Oil.”
We appreciate Professor Michael Mische for delivering the keynote presentation and Professor Rector for joining the audience question-and-answer session. Following the Part I discussion in May, this gathering continued the examination of California’s energy future and its implications for taxpayers, workers, businesses, and public services.
The evening brought together three connected questions:
-
Economic: How do decisions about California oil production affect employment, local businesses, government revenue, and essential services?
-
Environmental: What are the tradeoffs between producing oil in California and importing it from elsewhere?
-
National security: How do domestic production, foreign supplies, and energy infrastructure influence reliability and resilience?
Thank you to our speakers, members, guests, and everyone who helped make the evening possible. Your participation and questions are what make these discussions valuable.
